Peruvian and argentinian secondary schools:Changing concepts.

I read yesterday in the argentinian newspaper La Nacion (equivalent to El Comercio, of Lima), a journalstic article signed by Amelia Eizayaga, around recent ideas and associated concepts to the last 3 years in argentinian secondary school, emitted by the Minister of Education: Daniel Filmus, Emilio Tenti F. of UNESCO and other specialists. The article grasped my attention in the meantime because many of the poured concepts coincide or were very similar to them presented by us in various previous articles. So, while Daniel Filmus and Emilio Tenti, present that the argentinian secondary school is characterized by : discipline, homogeneity, continuous, rigid, coherent, ordinate, of unique sequence and where matter by matter is studied, the youthful argentinian cultures, practice and participate of another form of learning characterized by being : agile, fragmented, diverse, open, flexible, technological, audiovisual, associate to mass media, mobile, unstable, with simultaneous and multiple answers to diverse stimulus. Filmus and Tenti, advise that the argentinian school must be modernized adapting its organization to the demands of the youthful cultures. A revolution, very congruent certainly. In one previous article, we propose an open, flexible and modular schools, not alone coinciding we with these approaches, but we also predict that the schools of rigid curriculums are destined to die. In other article of my own, I explain how to implement, specifically this new school in our country.

As the adoption of the mass media is a phenomenon in crescendo, Argentina is prepared to buy and to implement (2007), 1 million laptops – to be provided by Nicholas Negroponte- to 100 dolares each one, to be destined to professors and students. In another article (see below, in spanish), we make the warning that the money destined to the construction of the new Peruvian National Library –PNL- : 33 million dollars, is an useless expense, product of a lack of long-term vision. We mentioned that with the same money we could have built and implement 1000 digital libraries + internet, with equal or greater power that the PNL, throughout the whole of our country. In the same article we explain also, in which way they can be maintained and to achieve of them, an upper qualitative performance.

In Argentina be planted, that of be not reverted the divorce between the needs of the youthful cultures and the rigid present institutionals school models, these last could be paralyze. And, it is indicated that the new students do not see the school as an exclusive and upper place of learning. These, said that many things can be learned also in the university of the street, through mass media, through media of consumption, in institutions, among friends, etc. Right, the school is not already, the unique place of learning or, of access to information. By our side, in another article we have presented the need to officialize the self-learning methods and to validate them before the Department of Education. And, that under certain circumstances is not of need to have physical presence in the school. For this and other cases, the employment of mass media acquires fundamental character.

While we structured these own ideas, we investigated in simultaneous, referring educational peruvian masters. Then, we read critically diverse journalistic articles of Luis Jaime Cisneros, a very publicized Peruvian thinker in educational themes. For our surprise – unless someone show us the contrary thing- we find the educational approaches of the Dr. Cisneros very general, adhered to disciplinars, rigids and homogeneous schools in which these are considered the main axis of acquisition of know-how and in which the teacher has a great authority. Very distant concepts of ours, that conceive the professor not as the great authority (tax, without effort, by the institutional order), but like an expert, who should gain the respect and authority each day before his students. Neither to speak of the school as the lighthouse but important of the know-how. Go..go....certainly it is, but from among a wide range of options.

:02/10/06:Ciencia. "Extending the peruvian schools hours?.02/13/06.Ciencia.http://vmechanm.blogspot.com/2006/02/creatividad-educativa-y-ciertas.html" Creatividad educativa y ciertas academias privadas".
