CREATIVITY and HYPERCONNECTIVITY.

Abstract from New Scientist

3 years ago, high school peruvian students reach the last place (in an international competition), in tests of reading comprehension and math. Local analysts argued that this occurred because students and teachers were poorly prepared. Few argued methodological flaws. Having won the Nobel Prize for Physics, someone asked Einstein the way he studied nature laws. He answered that in order to study kinetic stellar phenomena and light speed he imagined himself mounted on a comet. So, methodological flaws have no Peruvian patent. They occur everywhere. Theorizing about methodological changes to adopt, we foresee that soon we shall waste many high school texts. While the multimedia begins to be massively adopted in unofficial student contexts, some new ideas emerge in learning. The English autistic savant -27 years old- Daniel Tammet, propose revolutionary ideas in his books: Born on a Blue Day and Embracing the Wide Sky. 1) Tammet converts numbers, words and days in visual forms of dynamic colors, textures and movements (synesthesia). The number 37 for him is like oatmeal, the 3 just rounded. The 289 is ugly, the 333 : attractive, the 6, has no clear picture. Complex mathematical operations are resolved by Tammet, intuitively, unconsciously and without effort. His mind turns random string of digits in significant visual images, establishing hierarchies of associations. One recalls better, when best recreate the starting positions (odor, color, context). 2) Tammet that learned Finnish language in 7 days, argues that in order to learn languages is better to think the words as belonging to clusters of meanings, so that each piece of vocabulary makes sense according to its place in the architecture of mind. The relationships between words, help to remember. For him, learning languages with official documents is a terrible punishment. Tammet use phonoanesthesia: certain sounds has meaningful relationship with the things they describe. In many languages "i" is associated with small-child, "a" and "or" with big-thick-fat. In other cases : genre–words- association, also helps.

3) Tammet argues that the IQ is unable to appreciate the complexities of human intelligence. Tammet said that being a child suffered a lot (according to official technics), to learn how to count, spell. Neither the IQ, or any other system is able to reflect the complexity and individuality of each human mind or describe their potential. Every child has different talents. The most important is to discover and nurture it. 4) Tammet argues that in most people higher brain functions are carried out separately, not allowing interference between them. In his case, and according to him, there is an extraordinary convergence of memories thoughts, feelings and ideas (hyperconnectivity). Such hyperconnectivity is a basic condition exceptional creativity.

CREATIVIDAD e HIPERCONECTIVIDAD
