LEARNING with SAVANT AUTISTS

Thanks to special techniques, Daniel Tammet, an autistic, 30 years old, is able to quickly learn any language, including German. How? 1) " When I start, I have an instructor by my side. In the morning we read 2 hours of the language. At first, I read children's books, with easy and happy pictures, then, newspapers and interesting, for adults books (not bored). Later, I speak with native speakers, all day. 2) Then, we visited some places of the city (museums), where we continued learning, without stress, because it makes learning difficult. The brain needs time to analyze what is going. 3) Many people memorized list of words and conjugations: I am, you are. This is not right. One must learn intuitively, as do children. All languages are logical, because they belong to humans. 4) Next, I try to feel the language, recognizing and developing patterns. Round, small, things, often start in English with Kn (button). Str, describes something long. There are patterns that exist in all languages that make it easy to learn. 5) What for others are words and numbers, for me are colors and shapes ".

6) "My autistic brain, has special interconnections. While most think on individual categories, the real is that everything is interconnected. While learning, I use information from all my brain: emotions, colors and shapes combining them with words (synesthesia). When I see the word grass, I notice that the first letter starts with G, which for me is green. Apple suggests red. I’m very interested in patterns and relationships. If something starts with hand, I think in mobile and trade. Patterns are common to all languages, such as the sound of i, for small things: tiny and little in English, petite in french. Common words are short, like sock. 7) My system is not developed in public schools , because it goes against the establishment. There must be joy when we learn. When I read compound words I see them once, because I guess what they mean quickly. Learning german one learn also the character of Germans. This language is clean, with perfect corners. English is a large table, with many complex words. My abilities are not supernatural, it's part of my natural spectrum. Elite athletes, have no magic legs. They train hard, have congenital biological conditions, great determination and love to sports. Put these qualities together and you will get physical superiority".
